Strawberry Shortcake Dolls and Characters
Strawberry Shortcake is a licensed character owned by American Greetings, and originally used in their greeting cards. Then they expanded to include dolls, posters and other products.
It was 1977 was when Strawberry Shortcake and her cat Custard were designed by Muriel Fahrion while she was a greeting card illustrator at American Greetings. The idea was then presented to Bernie Loomis of General Mills and became a licensing entity. Fahrion then designed a subsequent thirty-two characters.
